Knights of Columbus make donation to help with Summer Jobs Program for Youth

Knights of Columbus make special donation to CYO

In response to Bishop Crosby’s appeal to help the Catholic Youth Organization hire summer students, our Knights of Columbus Council 10091 members recently presented a $500 cheque to the CYO.  Our 4th Degree Knights, representing the Fr. Sean O’Sullivan Assembly, provided an additional $500 donation.

The Bishop’s appeal relates to the federal government’s refusal to provide summer jobs funding to organizations who will not attest to their support for, among other things, the right to abortion.  This requirement to agree to the attestation for federal summer student funding has severely impacted many Catholic organizations and parishes hoping to hire students this summer.

If you missed the special collection on the June 3 weekend, consider donating to the CYO on-line.

For more information on the government attestation issue, please see Bishop Crosby’s Pastoral Letter.
